May Happenings

posted May 12, 2017, 7:20 AM by Linda Schirmer

Phew! May is a busy month at Clarion Limestone Elementary!!

This is just a quick note to inform our C-L families of upcoming events. This list is in addition to classroom events that have been communicated with you from your child’s teacher and the events on the May calendar that was sent home earlier this month.

Just for Kids:

Red Nose Penny Wars - May 10-24: All homerooms are competing against each other in an effort to fight poverty! The winning classroom will get donuts and the privilege of deciding where C-L’s money will go within the initiative. Students are asked to wear Mismatched Clothes on Friday, May 19th in honor of this friendly competition among homerooms. The homeroom who has the most “mismatched” students will win a special surprise.

Red Nose Day will be May 25th. This will be a school event during which all students will don their red noses graciously provided by the PTO and The Family Friendship Bags.

Moving Up Day - May 25: from 10-10:20am. Students in PreK-5th grade will have the opportunity to visit next year’s classrooms and meet their prospective teachers. The PTO will provide an ice cream treat and a special bag of helpful information for parents. This event will replace Find Your Room Night that was previously held just prior to school starting in the fall.

(If you would like a building or classroom tour over the summer, feel free to email Mrs. Taylor at for an appointment time.)

Awards Ceremony - May 30: 10am. This event is held to recognize students for various reasons from attendance to the arts, athletics, and many other areas! Since the entire student body is present for these awards, there is limited seating for families to attend.

Parents Invited:

May 23: from 11:00am-12:30pm. Art Opening (rain or shine) - come and see what our students have accomplished with C-L’s own Mrs. Huwar and the Artist-in-Residence Saihou Nije, a fiber/fabric multi-media artist. Feel free to stop in and visit the art classroom!!

The Annual “Bill Black” Elementary Track Meet & PreK-3rd grade carnival - May 23 (rain date May 24): 1:00-3:15pm.  In the event that this is postponed due to weather, a Schoolmessenger call will be sent out as soon as possible.

Have a wonderful summer!!

Clarion-Limestone School District's PreK Program

posted Jan 24, 2017, 7:42 AM by Justin Merwin   [ updated Jan 24, 2017, 7:42 AM ]

In an effort to measure interest in a preschool program within the district, Clarion-Limestone Area School District is eliciting feedback from district residents. If you reside in the C-L district, have a child who will be 4 years old prior to July 1, 2017, and would be interested in enrolling your child in a PreK Program at Clarion-Limestone Elementary School, please call the elementary office at (814)764-6006 by Wednesday, March 1st.

This contact does not guarantee a child’s enrollment.

The school board will review the public’s interest and need for the program in order to make an informed decision. All interested families will be contacted and given further information after the board reaches a decision.

Again, the deadline to call the elementary school and get on a waiting list for a potential Clarion-Limestone’s PreK program is March 1, 2017. Please feel free to call (814)764-6006 if you have any additional questions.
